Homelab & always-on selling
Many sellers keep a PC or home server running around the clock — remote desktop, media, inference, backups, or other background work. The GPU is already powered on; between your own jobs it sits idle. IdleChip is built for that pattern: list the spare hours, keep the agent on the machine, and operate listings from any browser — including your phone while you are away.
How it works
- Install and pair the IdleChip agent on the always-on PC (once).
- On My GPUs, enable scanning, register the card, and start heartbeats so buyers see you online.
- Post an offering or reply on buyer threads with hours and rate you are willing to share.
- While you are out, open the site on your phone to check threads, sessions, and Profile — the GPU work stays on your home machine.
What to watch for
- Spare capacity only — if your server uses the GPU for Plex, local AI, or rendering, only list hours you can pause or share without breaking your own setup.
- Keep the box awake — sleep mode and reboots stop heartbeats; homelab sellers usually disable sleep and accept some uptime risk.
- Buyer access is remote — renters run workloads on your GPU, not on their phone. Plan how you hand off access (SSH, Jupyter, etc.) without exposing the rest of your network.
- Phone = dashboard — mobile works for browsing, posting, and managing listings. Scans and heartbeats still come from the paired PC, not the browser.
